Yu Man Lee, Conservation Scientist and Herpetologist with Michigan Natural Features Inventory, will provide an overview of turtles in Michigan with a focus on Michigan’s Rare Turtles: Blanding’s, Spotted, and Wood.
Yu Man will cover what these turtles need, listing statuses, permitting needs, ongoing conservation efforts and habitat conservation. She will end on “what you can do when you find one of these rare turtles”.

Yu Man has conducted inventories, research, and monitoring to assess Michigan’s rare and declining animal species, particularly amphibians and reptiles, and their conservation needs since joining MNFI in 1997. Other focus areas include vernal pool mapping and monitoring, climate change vulnerability assessment, conservation planning, education and outreach, and community science.
