This is a 5-day course covering all aspects wetland delineation focusing on the procedures outlined in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 87 Manual and the Midwest Regional and Northcentral and Northeast Supplements. The course will spend significant time on the criteria necessary to meet the wetland delineation standards for Wetland Hydrology, Hydric Soils, and Hydrophytic Vegetation. The course will focus on a variety of wetland types in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan. Participants will learn all aspects of wetland delineation including how to properly complete the Wetland Data Form. Participants will be provided with the Hydric Soil Indicators Manual, Dataforms, and Wetland Plant List. Participants will be responsible for meals and lodging. Several lodging options are available in the Ann Arbor area. This is a field course, participants should be prepared for varying field and weather conditions (rain gear, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.).

Instructor Bios:
Jason DeMoss – Jason DeMoss is a Professional Wetland Scientist with 11 years of experience in natural resources ecology. Mr. DeMoss has led wetland delineation field teams for a variety of projects throughout the Great Lakes Region and the northern Midwest, and he has collaborated with clients in renewable energy, utility, commercial and residential developments, oil & gas, remediation, and government. His expertise includes water resource delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, regulatory permitting, project siting, and GIS data management and map products. He is published in the Soil Science Society of America Journal for research in problematic soils and has worked in both the public and private sectors.
Bryana Guevara – Bryana Guevara is an experienced wetland consultant with over 12 years, particularly within the Great Lakes region, including Michigan. She holds professional certifications as a Wetland Professional Scientist through the Society of Wetland Scientists and as an ISA Certified Arborist. She has field experience in more than 40 counties throughout Michigan. Bryana specializes in wetland delineation, wetland mitigation monitoring, woodland habitat assessments, tree surveys, botanical surveys, threatened and endangered species habitat assessments, Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) permit application assistance, storm water and soil erosion monitoring. In recent years, she has consistently completed over 100 wetland delineations annually, including projects with complex compliance challenges.
Robb Roos – Robb Roos is an environmental consultant with over 15 years of experience in the upper Midwest, including Michigan. He holds a Master of Science in Biology from Grand Valley State University and is certified as a Wetland Professional by the Society of Wetland Scientists. As a senior environmental consultant, Robb manages and provides technical review of field efforts that relate directly to complex environmental permit applications. This includes wetland delineation, habitat assessment, threatened & endangered species, and cultural resources field efforts.
Class Cancellation Notification
Five (5) days prior to the start of class, participants will be notified of a cancellation. The MWA Treasurer will refund 100% of the fee received to participants.
Cancellation Policy for Attendees
- Any attendee can transfer, at any time, their spot in the class to another person with no financial penalty.
- Cancellation prior to 14 days of the class is eligible for 100% refund of class fees.
- Cancellation from 1-13 days of the class is eligible for 50% refund of class fees.
- Cancellation within less than 1 day of start of the class (including during the class) is not eligible for any refund (0%), however the spot can be transferred to any other person.
