Dr. Greer will provide an overview of common upland- and wetland-ranked ferns found throughout Michigan, highlighting species useful for assessing wetland boundaries. The class will include a field assignment that attendees can complete independently.

Dr. Greer is a professor in the Department of Biology and the Frederik Meijer Honors College at Grand Valley State University. Dr. Greer researches the evolutionary ecology of plants, including the community ecology of ferns (temperate and tropical), invasive species (Ailanthus altissima), and the evolution and ecology of tree architecture.
